Brian's "Picture of the Week"

IMAGE: Sand Hills

The Sand Hills [Sand Hills] are actually sand dunes [Dunes] left over from the end of the Ice Age about 10,000 years ago [Ice Age]. Some of the dunes are over 300 feet tall (100m) and together occupy a quarter of the State of Nebraska [NASA EO]. These dunes are dormant, but were active as recently as 600 years ago [Ground Images]. This view is looking east from 38,000 feet, about 300 miles northeast of Denver, at position N42, W101.[map].
